well i hope this puts some insight as to whats happening with the rear in
these cars. notice how much metal was laying in the bottom of the casing.
the viper tech was just shaking his head with a :D you should know what
he was thinking.

Unitrax has seen quite a few of these.

They have designed a new, much stronger pin, with a clever spiral groove cut in, to allow oil to flow, and prevent this from happening again.

You can get these very inexpensively from Unitrax direct, from most tuners, or from Parts Rack.

Would upgrade this part in any rear that is being opened up.

1)replaced with same exact rear

2)i first noticed something when i was backing up a incline and without using
the brakes no drifting. also i starting hearing a clunk in the rear, mainly
when shifting and making a 90 degree turn.

3)no mods of any kind, bone stock. i dont call smooth tube and k&n much of a
mod.

the new rear came from the factory and not sure if its better or the same. the

The cross pin break is so common. The Unitrax pin is very much superior to the oem pin. DC may be using the Unitrax pin now.

That clunking noise mentioned above, well mine has been doing that for some time on 90 degree turns, but only when cold. I've heard this may be normal. After two or three minuets driving, it's normal. I will say that it never used to do that, so it may be inpending disaster.

I put the Unitrax pin in when I did the gear upgrade.
