Steering rack questions

My steering rack is leaking and needs replacement.

Found a rebuilt one at Parts Train for $362.00

Found another rebuilt one on ebay from Auto WHSE 1 for $149.00
eBay Motors: RACK & PINION STEERING DODGE VIPER (item 130000713865 end time May-12-08 13:20:17 PDT)

New OEM from Dodge is said to be about $900.00

Others on ebay, however not sure of condition if they came out of a wreck.

Does anyone have an experience, thoughts on the rebuilt units?

Yes the rack is $900! I just bought one and am putting it in next week. I hated to pay for a new one but figured with my luck in the past with used items, I would end up doing it twice and it is a $1500 job at the stealer with the rack and front end alignment!

Actually I have had my steering rack ordered at the local dealer for about a month waiting for my paint job to be completed. Should have called you first but I am new to the board!

My steering rack was leaking too...or so I thought. I have a '96 and JonB advised that changing the high pressure hoses would be a good idea since mine were 12 years old. I got the lines from him and installed them...the car no longer leaks.

JonB NEVER ceases to amaze me because he is more concerned about his customers and they quality of his service than he is about making a profit.
