Dyno time tuning by JD, Tony, and DLM... $200.

Candy and soda for the late night dyno session... $14.

110hp from a Greg Good head porting job on a DLM motor... priceless.

The ONLY thing that has changed from before (850hp) to now (965hp) is the heads. I am still in disbelief myself. If it hadn't been backed up with multiple dyno pulls I'd think it was a fluke.

Joseph, thank you very much for the oppurtunity to work on your heads.

Thanks to Doug, Joseph, and Tony for working to make my head work look good.

I'm astounded myself. It's like going on a blind date and Cindy Crawford shows up.

Thanks again guys.

Nice job Greg.....buuut, I don't think I would go that far :D Talkin about a head job

I should also mention that Joseph R&R'd the pistons (new rings) and did the head R&R all by himself :2tu:

R&R = remove & reinstall

And Tony helped with the rocker adjustments because although I'm not afraid of head work, rockers scare me.

RE: the rings: I cheated... DLM set them up. All I had to do was compress and install.

Doug did one heck of a job on this motor. If he hadn't laid the ground work, i wouldn't have been able to get the good head(s) from greg.

Cudaman... can you hear me knockin' on your door yet??? :)

Okay, so you R+R'd the piston rings along with the headwork then? What kind of tuning was necessary (might there have been some power left to go on the old tune?). No matter what, astounding numbers..

Anything is possible.

I can tell you that I'd tried to tune more than 850 out of the previous set-up numerous times (about 30 tries, actuall)... I tried water injection (which my car didn't like) as well as timing and a/f adjustments... and I never got better than the tune that the car had when it left Doug's shop 2 years ago.

With these heads, the car ran ~910hp first pull after i'd fattened up the a/f curve _significantly_ just to be safe on the 1st run. Then mapping back to the old DLM a/f ratios, we got it to the 965 number. The irony is that the #'s kept going up... 910 1st pull... 925 the 2nd... 938 the 3rd... 968 the 4th. I expected to hit a dimishing returns point... but we never did!

I was talking about the dyno numbers! Any time I ship a set of heads off I'm at the mercy of the rest of the "team" working on the car to do their job well.

All I can say is you guys, the "team", did me right. Awwww, I guess we all did each other right. Uh, that didn't come out right  ........but you guys know what I mean. :D

WOW !!! I don't know what else to say. That is very impressive Joe, I guess I won't mess with you anymore. I think I am going to get rid of my Viper and get a VW bus, I can't keep up with all you guys. That car better run some 9's in Florida. Anyway, CONGRATS !!!
Later,
Joe

What are the specs on your head? Lower compression? Congrats on the awesome numbers!!

How did you fatten your system up? larger injectors or just turn up the regulator?

Way to go Joseph "shadetree mechanic" Dell. With those kind of results you may have a few people calling you up for some tuning/work on their Viper.

CONGRATS!!!
