torque specs for wheels nuts, 96 gts

Invest a small amount of money and buy a manual.

Remember those 96's had cast wheels if you run it hard I've seen '96 wheels come off from the hub on a road course.

Spec Is 95 as VJ says, If you're beating on it (as on a road course) I'd do 100-103 cold.

Back in the day I was told by two reliable techs at ViperDays that
they would never tighten to more than 95tq - anything more than
that leads to the studs breaking under extreme load. That was many
years ago (and I may be misquoting,) but I still take it to heart to
this day and never once had a problem.

I agree with bonkers, 95tq is as high as I go. The most important thing is that the the wheel studs are all tight and evenly torqued. I clean the threads on the studs and the mounting surface of the hub with a wire brush, then I put a small amount of lubricant on the studs (some disagree with this, but its worked for me).

The biggest problem I see in the field is over torqued or frozen lug nuts. You cant get them off or the stud breaks.

With new studs, or new wheels, you should re-torque them after a few miles.

Just my experience, your may differ.
