I recently received an email from [email protected] with the subject line "Don't drink too much". There was no text, only an attachment: Board.sc . I don't know the original extension, apparently my Norton changes the extensions of suspect files so they cannot be opened accidentally. After the Norton alert I contacted a VCA mod (Tony), and a local bud (JMcGuire) who(whom?) I knew to be in the software biz. Jon was able to open the file safely (he told me about Norton renaming it too) and thinks it might be the SirCam virus.
I have had this email address for 1.5-2 years and in that time I have had no email dealings or other contact with hmsvipers. The only way my email address would be in their database is if they got it from my profile here on the board.
Has anyone else received a similar email? I will gladly forward the email in question to anyone interested in seeing it.
