My 04 gained 25 rwhp from Kooks headers. The car already had 3"offroad pipes going into a 3" Corsa Track. the only change was the headers.

It's been said that 05 and up will not show as much of a gain as the 03 and 04's....knock sensors...?

What Illsmoq said...we got the B&B stepped headers/ceramic coated, and probably gained 10-12hp. We already knew going in to get headers we would not see a noticeable gain (as told to us by Chuck Tator and Sean Roe both)...but we wanted the sound and of course, the cooler exhaust....and we also have the Corsa Track Cat-Back, and high-flow cats. GREAT sound...most of the HP gain was the Corsa and VECII tuning. ~juli

Do these remove the first set up cats? Do you need 02 sims? 25hp at the wheels is a nice increase.

That is the offroad system. I do not use sims. I tied the sensors up ouside the exhaust system reading open air over 10K miles ago and have had zero issues with that.

They sell a system with cats. Fit and finish is top notch on these.

It is interesting all of the input on who's headers make the most hp, and no one has thrown in who Dodge chose to build all of the tubular headers for the 2008 Viper. After testing "many" of the available brands, they chose Belanger headers. NO failures on testing......the most hp gains......Dodge wanted no quality control issues......you then can be the judge........just my .02.........

I gained 44 hp from stock (dyno proven) on my '03 when I added Belanger headers, hi flow cat, and 3" belanger exhaust.

I just posted my dyno numbers on my '06 (see separate thread), but I never tested it before mods. I am making a surprising 585 crank HP with the belanger system.

Unless you pulled the motor out and dyno'd it on an engine dyno don't post crank numbers, you're just guessing and confusing people....what did it put down to the wheels before and after the headers? That's what we want to know.

Anyway it's hard to compare the differences in RWHP gains between all these headers. Mine pulled another 25rwhp and it already had 3" offroad pipes and side exhaust. If I dyno'd it before the other exhaust mods it would have a cumulitive gain of 40 or so RWHP.

With Kooks, Belanger, M&M, B&B etc, on a the same car they are going to all be within 5-10 hp of each other....not enough to really matter. When you get into Supercharged and Nitrous applications the differences in design will be more relevant.

since you brought it up...I pulled this from another thread...
To clairify, the new Belanger headers and exhaust have been tested on the new engine by DCX and Mclaren and the gains are real. The headers needed to be actually "detuned" to stay within the uasable parameters of the new PCM to make sure there would be no issues that prevent it from being a true "plug and play" system. If I did not believe this information the last thing I would have done is order 12 sets of them ;-)

Why go through the trouble of installing detuned headers? Why not make the headers as efficient as possible and do a PCM swap or reflash to take care of the tune?

I would guess that Dodge also has to 'choose' on the basis of service/install considerations. I read elsewhere that the engine needs to be lifted slighty for the Kooks install -- no way a Dodge dealer is going to do that. The Belanger install looks easier, regardless of which header is actually better.

Sure, that would make sense.

I installed Belanger headers on my 05 and still had to "tip" the engine to make the install as easy as possible. No issues to do so....very easy for the dealers and techs to do......the main differences in the headers is their QUALITY and their long term stability (if you will). Many of the tested headers cracked, and "warped" and their are piles of other companies headers at the Dodge plant that have been tested and failed over time.....but not one set of Belangers failed......that was good enough for me.....they may be more expensive but in this case I chose the best quality and the highest hp gains to boot.........Belanger all they way......

How do you know this for fact? or is this an urban legend that has been passed along?

Naw, I think the Engineers at Dodge ( knowing quite of few of these guys ) are all about Power. They did alot of research on the Comp Coupes and I think they chose Belanger due to his output and the fact that he has been doing work on the Snake forever --- the fact that his shop has 50 years of experience might help too.

That's what happens when you put shields over the spendy stainless. The mild steel ceramic coated does not do this.
Mild steel coated sounds better too. Not "tinny" like thin stainless.

btw, tooting my own horn here, not B.'s:2tu:
