I found an 08 and 09 vert that I'm contemplating getting. I know there are a few structural changes for 09 that add a tad bit of weight to the car. Should I pursue the 09 over the 08? One is graphite with silver stripes, the other Viper Blue with black stripes.

The frame in the 09's needed to be strengthed a bit for federal crash testing. Only slightly heavier, and slightly stronger.

Unless it is in an accident, the small weight gain will not be noticable.

I've seen a Viper Blue with black stripes. The black stripes combined with the black convertible top and black painted diffuser (only on striped cars) really blends together to look very coupe like with the top up. Lighter color stripes will not flow togehter like that, although I bet the graphite is nice as well, really comes down to which color you like better as you say.

At VOI the SRT engineer said that the 09s were doming with the upgraded intake manifold (20hp) and the insulated airbox (less hp reduction when warmed up due to lower [-20F] air intake temps). The new intake he showed us was a Black/Chrome option availaable for the 09s. I'm not sure if it was for all 09s or to be introduced later in the year. Another 20+hp might spank the 38hp of the ZR1.

There are NO horsepower differences between the 08Viper and the 09 .ANY parts shown(airboxes ,manifolds ect) are intended to be SOLD OVER THE COUNTER as CUSTOMER add ons.In fact when these parts come out installation of certain ones MAY void the factory warranty.

Either car color combo sounds great...it were me? I'd choose the graphite w/silver stripes! Just my own preference though...you have IMPECCABLE taste, so you'll choose what's best for YOU. ~juli

I don't care which color you pick. I only care that you pick and we get to see what you do with it. still love your last one.

I'd probably go with the 09 - the blue with black is cool, although I'd personally like the graphite & silver better for colors, not sure it'd be enough to keep me from getting the 09.

I'm not a fan of the razor wheels, so if one had those I'd go for the other maybe.

sorry to be off the topic here but i dont think the 09 zr1 will really spank the 08 with equal drivers.

On a roadcoarse the Viper wins but from 0-150-0 same day, same track, same driver the ZR-1 has an advantage.(early mag tests are getting ZR-1S trap speeds approx 3-4 mph higher than the 08 Vipers in the quarter.)
