Just an FYI...it's renewal time, we are all receiving our renewal forms in the mail. For those of us who have 2008's and a 'free' year of membership...I have faxed back the form with that information on the form. Asked for the info to be verified by JRT/Viper HQ by email to me. (That they received the info from the dealer we purchased the 2008 from). Hope the renewals go smoothly for everyone~! :2tu: ~juli

Make sure wherever you purchased your 2008 from has turned in the paperwork to Viper HQ...call the dealer or JRT 1-800-998-1110...to make sure that you get the 2008 year's membership free~! :2tu: ~juli

I would recommend you contact the administrator or the moderators to make sure, as I would not know. They are the ones I told you about earlier. ANY problems, make sure they're aware of it, and they WILL help you out~! :)

Anything to help pay the light bill around here. God knows I use my share of electricity being the post queen of modern times!

So yeah, it's in the mail. :2tu:

Anyone know how to run a beer machine off of exhaust fumes?

I am not sure I am going to renew. Our family is cutting way back on Christmas this year, and with job uncertainties, etc., I don't think I can justify the cost. :dunno:

Very sorry to hear that, and certainly understand that you have to place your priorities accordingly. You are a member of one of the most dynamic regional clubs out there. Alex and the rest of the crew in the Illinois VCA are among the very best - not to mention that they are also one of the most active clubs in the country. Throw in lots of other great VCA member benefits (and more on the way) and we hope we can continue to make a case for rejoining us in the future.

Thanks for your support,

Chris

Well, The Illinois VCA maybe one of the most dynamic if you live in or around Chicago. Since most memebers live up there, that's where everything takes place. If you live in downstate Illinois the Illinois VCA is basically meaningless. (Yes for those not from Illinois there are things south of Chicago) :rolaugh: They might as well call it the Chicagoland VCA instead of Illinois because not much happens south of Interstate 80 that I am aware of. I think they held an autocross in Pontiac this year (approx. 1 hour and 15 minutes away), but I think that was about the closest thing). Oh, well... :dunno:

GTD, thanks for the comment. I'll give thought to renaming our region. :)

Ahh yes, one of the virtues of living in our large state and having several surrounding states as part of our club region creates a heck of a challenge in trying to appease all members. Though I know the feeling my friend. As president of the club, I rarely drive less than an hour to any one event, I go to all 30 events each year... and love every second of it.

We spend considerable time planning locations, and we make every effort to span all directions. We have been in Pontiac this year (as wo do every year), and we plan on being there twice in 2009. We also spend considerable time at Autobahn, so that rounds off both autocross and road racing being about 1 - 1.5 hours from you. In addition this year, we are planning a southern cruise, so we'll be heading down your way. We also have Putnam Park and US 41, those bring a total of 3 driving events hours from the north and closer to you (I drive 5 hours to get to the mid Indiana events). So there are a few events within reasonable driving distance for you. Of course I'm always open to receiving any advice you might have on an event idea that would make sense to have closer to your area. My ears are always open!

But a valid point you bring up, one I'd like to share another view to. No matter what location we pick, there will always be people far from that location. Travel is always relative and it's hard to make it work for everyone. We have members that drive 3+ hours to every event we do. We have WI members who brave the traffic even on a weekday evening to come to each monthly meeting. MI members drive around the southern tip of the lake to visit. And some of our most known and active members actually come from your exact area! Even at our last meeting we had more than 25 people drive over 100 miles to join us!

Why? I think it's because they know we have something special. We invest in our members and we have great pride knowing we put on some special events, have some special people, and have an exceptional culture. The VCA is a great place, one that you CAN'T compare to any other club. I'm a member of many clubs, this is by far the best when it comes to the price, the people, and the exclusivity... even before you take part in events. It's worth it!!

Feel free to PM me. Always willing to listen to a member. One person matters. That's what we built our club around.

Thanks for your comments. I will be looking forward to next year's events if I join... If I don't spend the money to join I guess I will miss them.

I have only one Viper and it is a Gen 1. I guess it is my choice not to put a lot of miles driving to events. Since it is the only Viper I can afford, I am trying to keep it worth something by keeping the mileage down... (it has 17,700 right now) within reason of course. I drove it this weekend around Peoria as it was 50 and sunny! :)

Re: Renewal Time/ MEMBERSHIP Retention

i have a 08,do i need to do something?let me know what i have to do. thakx.....

Its automatic, and your dealer does not have to send in any specific paperwork to VCA.

Buying a new, untitled Viper on the MSO triggers the dealer-paid membership when the title is generated. Doris here took under 5 weeks to get her VCA welcome letter and Viper magazine, based on her 9/30/08 deliver date.

If you choose to upgrade that 'free' membership to VENOM, you can pay the extra via HQ. While $35 does not sound like much, in terms of generating funds for VCA, it is a HUGE percentage of incremental difference, because the COOL (free) dues and the $115 dues generate almost nothing.

MEMBERSHIP RECRUITMENT and RETENTION must be a top priority in 2009 and beyond. I wonder what would happen if all the non-member 'freeloaders' posting or even lurking here were to be denied access unless they paid a nominal $20/year Web Forum Membership? Or $35 for 2 years. Or ? This website ALONE is worth the VCA membership fee. And yet it is free to everyone, instead of free to Members. Is this what AL GORE intended ?!

I like your way of thinking Jon, and I look forward to many years of business with you.

Maybe there could be a membership to the VCA at a couple different levels. Just thinking out loud... The biggest benefit for me that the VCA offers is this website since I am too far away from my local chapter to get those benefits. IDEA: maybe charge $50 or so for people to join the board and have all access to all areas of the board, but they would not be full VCA members and would have to pay extra if they want to join in on VCA events. I love this site and all the information and nice people, but I am basically paying $115 per year for access to the site. I hope one of the National Board members read this post because it may not be a bad idea. You may lose a few bucks from people like me, but you would probably gain money from those who use the site and are not VCA members but would be willing to pay say $50 for access to the whole site. I hope this suggestion is taken under serious consideration. Thanks.:)

Re: Renewal Time/ MEMBERSHIP Retention

Just heard back from JRT/Viper HQ today that our '09 Membership is indeed paid for, so went ahead and paid the extra $35 for VENOM Membership once again! THANK YOU Kim at JRT for your help~!

Thanks a lot Chris, for changing the avatar!!!
Don't worry to much about the Swiss delivery.

The FE GTS looks fantastic!
---
On a sidenote - dont know whether other international members are involved also:
I paid the 2008 VCA-Venom fee online in Nov 2007 as I did with the 2009 VCA-Venom fee online (international rate) this week.

Between end of 2007 and Oct 2008 I did not hear anything from the Swiss VCA about an additional fee for the local club for 2008.
I wrote emails after I renewed in Nov 2007 to the Swiss VCA and did not get a response until lately,
asking for 200 CHF which I paid immediatly (is 152 Euros or 192 US$!!!).

To me it seems that there is no "communication" or "agreement" about the membership fees between the Swiss VCA and the VCA (US).
I paid twice?!

That time already? Wow where did the year go?? I will for sure be renewing. The discounts from buying goodies more than pays for the membership. Well worth it.

Just to be clear... should i expect a membership renewal form in the post/ by email or should i contact a club officer to indicate my renewal intention? Became owner in 09/07, became member immediately and was given end of 07 free, so assume my 08 membership has expired on 31/dec/09...but i've just received the latest mag!??..with no renewal form. Please let me know, thanks ;)

Post this on here(it's at the top of the page). They can take care of your not getting the magazine and renewal questions for you.
