No guesses? I have an SRT8 now and am going to sell it this August and then buy a Viper. I'm just not sure that a non supercharged Viper would keep me happy. If I had an idea of how fast they were with a few mods like the Silver one compared to a FI one it would be a big help. There aren't any around that I could even try so I am really relying on your info to give me an understanding of what to expect.

SRT8 is a bit vague... Charger, Challenger, 300C, Magnum ?

on the silver one, with all those bolt-on's and Tune i assume he's had her on the dyno. Shoot him a message and see if he can send you the graph/numbers. I'd guess around 460whp/500tq
I would ask your questions to the owners of the cars you are considering.

Any viper will make you happier than an SRT8 :2tu:
There is much to learn about the Viper. Have fun reading throught the forums, Start hear http://forums.viperclub.org/search.php and type in any keywords your curious about.

I am pretty sure you would be happy with the Viper right out of the box unless your SRT-8 had mods done to it. It is definately not something you would want to jump straight into supercharged (I'd be dead or in jail) but it also depends what supercharger you want. I'm stuck on if I want to go heads/cam or supercharged.

Bolt-on GenII you are looking at 11's... possibly 10s with awesome 60' and shifting.

wherever i lay my head
i've got a 300 srt8 with a 426 in it and it puts down quite a bit more power than my gen3, however it's still slower and just an overall different animal. my viper is MUCH more fun to drive. there are some 1/4mi calculators online that give you a general estimate given weight/hp/final gear ratios.

It's a charger I'm putting 420 at the wheels. I realize the Viper is a different animal, I just want to make sure its fast enough so I don't get bored with it. I haven't been able to find the weight on the Gen II either.. My buddy is into 03-04 cobras and we have a battle going back and forth. He recently had a cobra putting 643rwhp. I was thinking 98-99 GTS with a Roe or a 06 Coupe with a Paxton. I was curious how fast the silver one was cause cars like that seem like a good deal and if it would be fast enough then I would save the money and not worry about a FI car.

The silver one has the gears so it will feel fast...take a ride in it and i think you will like it.
The other one is faster but if it were me i would go drive both. Price matters.

I would but the problem is that I couldn't get much farther away. I live just north of Maine in Canada. That's the reason for all the questions. I've been reading on here for about a year now. Just joined recently so I could get more info and message sellers.

420 rwhp Charger will most like run high 12 to low 13 1/4 mile times. 460 rwhp GTS can run high 11 to low 12 1/4 mile times. I don't think you would be upset buying a na viper, but it you were going to boost one in the future, it is cheaper in the long run to buy one already done.

That's what I was thinking. I don't want to buy a NA car and be wanting more. Last year I ran a 12.83 @ 111 mph in late September. Since then I have put a cam in and got a custom tune. I was curious how much difference there would be on the Vipers. Just want to get the info I need to make the right decision.

My bone stock 2001 GTS put down 425 rwhp and 456 rwtq... it will not feel slow compared to your SRT8. The Viper weighs 500 lbs or more less than your car with more hp and more tq...plus it isn't an auto tranny.

How about 10s on street tires? I bought this car in the US and exported it from there. I paid the GST and have done the Federal inspec. I haven't registered it yet becuase it could save you the $3,000 I already paid to the Gov. I have added the Daytome Running Lights and went through all the hoops required by the US and the Cda customs.

This car would drive like stock up to 3500rpm and then the Paxton starts making boost and ups the hp to 580-600rwhp. Traction even in first gear with the new tires as long as the road is good. Once you get used to the car and the 600rwhp/685bhp you can turn on the ic chiller and the Nitrous Oxide. 10s on street tires and 9s on slicks exciting enough for you?

The Paxton drives easily and with complete control (unless you dump the clutch). I attended 1 car show and took hom the first place trophy. Drove car while perfecting it (better than new)and adjusting the suspension and it drives perfect with 23mpg on the highway.

The American Club Racer is also a collectable and rare Viper GTS. The Vipers really need brake upgrades to be as good as the later models (Gen 3&4) as I did to this ACR.

Also hp numbers are misleading and not much use without a dynograph to see where the hp and torque numbers are. ie, Roe Racing TS supercharger is not for beginners as it produces massive torque at 2,000rpm and no traction, completely unlike the Paxton. Sure is exciting though.

A 420 rwhp srt8 will pull as hard as a stock 1992 viper with 370 rwhp..high 12s at 110-112 mph..a stock gts with 410 rwhp will run 12.2 at 117-120 mph all day...with 460 rwhp from all the bolt ons plus tune expect 11.7 at 120-123 mph all day..a full seond and over 10 mph faster than your srt8...you will not be disapointed...a 420 rwhp srt8 is actually ptetty slow compared to even a stock gts...it wouldnt even be close..there are vids of bolt on gts vipers with 460 rwhp running door to door with c6zo6s

Still comes down to how good of a driver is in the viper. ive heard theyre a ***** to launch without spinning. and then i witnessed it, when i beat an 05 srt-10(yes, the viper, nott he ram), twice in a row. in my 460rwhp 300c srt8. that was with my heavy 22's on as well.

but on paper, no doubt the viper wins hands down.

You should seriously consider Teds paxton car if you want more power.

If you're happy with your Srt8. You will love a basically stock Gen2 and the silver car was taken very good care of. If you wanted to mod later it would be a great candidate.

I'd personally trust both Ted and phoenix as sellers to buy sight unseen after a bunch of pics and questions.

Ted, I've looked at your car on the classifieds. It's a really nice car but more than I want to spend. I appreciate the info and wouldn't mind asking you more questions about Vipers.

I wanted something around low 11's or high 10's. I'm not worried about handling the power of a Roe powered Viper, just treat it with respect. I'm not going to say no to a Paxton car but I want the low end tourque of a twin screw.

was this from a dead stop till 100 mph...1/8 mile or 1/4 mile...and yes even a stock srt10 has 475-500 TQ on the dyno..They will spin like crazy unless you get it just right
