WHen they come factory with them they look amazing. The add on ones can sometimes look a little ricey. I think the looks of the ACR are amazing.

If you go really fast in a Viper the front end feels very very light, not the rear.

I like vipers with and with out wings. The same way I feel about stripes. When I went looking for a viper I would have bought one ethier way, but won't change the car I bought. No wing no stripes.

Went looking at some 09 coupes, thinking I would not like the wingy thing. Seeing several ACR's changed my mind about the wingy thing.:)

If you park 10 corvettes at a curb, it will draw a small crowd.

If you park ONE Viper across the street the crowd crosses the street.

If you park 10 Vipers at a curb, it draws a larger crowd.

If you park ONE winged Viper acrss the street the crowd crosses the street.

For better or worse, wings are ****, and the curb-appeal is higher.

And if you have 'wings' with balanced aerodynamics, the grip can be rewarding.

That said: You have never seen an XKE-Jag, and damn-few Pinninfarina-bodies, with a wing. Too **** to alter...... the same can be said for the GTS.

I am not a fan of a wing or the large fat looking spoiler on a Gen 1 or 2. On the RT/10 it takes away from the "wide & low" look of the car from the rear. I do make an exception for the GTS-R and its wing. I would love to have one of those in silver and blue. But, that is out of my price range boys...

On the Gen IV car, the wing really adds a lot more than I thought it would. It looks awesome and that's the way they should have delivered all the cars in my opinion. On a GTS, the wing looks very out of place in my opinion - that car is just so smooth and **** that the wing sticks out like a **** in a punch bowl.

I gotta go to bed now that you said "smooth and ****". :hug2:

On the verts I do like the trunk attached spoiler. The GTSs and coupes look the best with their ducktails. The ACR is a bit much on the street, but it does look like a purpose built race car (except the radio, seats, visors, airbags etc) and it looks like it belongs on the race track.

For my streetcar I bought the Venom spoiler and I like the looks of these late 90s style of spoilers. The wings are tolerable on a viper (because it is one of the fastest, best street cars running at the track) although the 'look' is extremely popular with the ricer crowd. The rear wing creates too much downforce without a front splitter so I won't use the wing. Since I seldom track my car the Venom spoiler shouldn't affect my car much until after 60mph I am hoping for no mileage difference on the highway, but drifting onto the front straight I would hope that my speed would be a couple mph higher.

I don't like a wing on a Gen2 typically but if it has a wing it NEEDS some kind of front fascia or splitter to balance it.

Gen3/4 I like the lower wing like on the aero's. I'm not a fan of the ACR type wing but if its a track car, it would make sense. But not on a street car.

ACR wing looks cool .. on a ACR. If the car comes with a wing keep it, if not dont add it.

Verts need a little something. What Wallbanger did above is tastful.

I like wings. Mostly honey garlic but BBQ is good for a change too. :D

What do you mean not that kinda wing?

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh. THAT kind of wing.

Right.

Yes, they CAN look good. Depends on wing style and body style. I do find hardtops look good with wings where as verts do not look as good unless the wing is smaller. If you are going with any wing though, it has to match the body contour. I LOVE the new ACR wing but I do not think it would look good on a Gen 2. Same for the GT2/GTS/R wings on a SRT. Would make it look funny. I think this is where the love/hate relationship can sometimes come into play.

Angles can also make a wing look good or bad. A few examples, some look good other not so much...

The only thing that bugs me about that wing Mopar Boy is how high it sits. I would definitely have to see the car in person to form a full opinion but that last photo shows it sitting really high.

The ACR wing looks "right" on the ACR. Probably because the form follows the function.
The Aero package wing looks "pretty good" on the coupe. A vert with any wing or rear spoiler lip looks cheesey. IMHO

The ACR wing is perfect!!! I can't find an angle that doesn't look great. Then...you take the car to the track and realize that you can go around corners at speeds you have never experienced before. Man, I love this car!!!

What makes this forum so cool, is there are so many diverse thoughts, feelings, perspectives, and opinions...all for our mutual benefit.

As for myself, I feel the wing (did not mean any disrespect with the "wingy thingy" thread title...even though it is sort of cute :) looks good and necessary, but only on the race track...maybe the drag strip(??)

However, IMO only few Viper owners take their Viper to the race track...which BTW, is a good poll question, although there are more lurkers and non responders to polls, which are usually populated by those in favor of the poll question.

As for street cruising, which IMO are where the majority of the Vipers reside (especially the newly pruchased from the factory Vipers...not the used ones...ACR or not), it detracts from the cars lines...especially the height of the wing, and those God awful big flat end caps....basically, it looks like an add on after thought.

Anyway, thanks for all the opinions. P/s: All you racers out there (track or strip), make sure you have an insurance rider to cover this. Saw a new wrecked and totaled Red/Blk ACR (the video is here somewhere) at Tators without the rider....$100k down the draino!!

Do you feel the Viper wing adds or detracts, from the cars styling lines and overall looks?
I believe the Viper without the wing looks very bland especially gen 3 and 4. True, its for track use, but it really gives the car a much more aggressive and intimidating look. On the vert, no way though.

To be honest, I thought the same thing when I first got it. The pics made it look huge, however when I saw it in person, it was not that bad. Still was not liking the wing on mine even after the first few weeks I owned it, but it did grow on me...

I almost bought this car but the Roe supercahrged engine had been replaced with an offsetground crank 540ci engine. The ad said that it was raced "in the day" in Lemans etc and had won 22 of the 25 races it entered. The SVS engine had a couple hundred miles on it, even though it wouldn't idle when at operating temp.

I asked that it be tuned before any more break-in miles were put on the car. Then he wrote me that he had gone over 160mph on the freeway and he wouldn't sell the car unless the buyer had a HPDE license. I didn't believe that any responsible driver would break-in a new engine if it was running so fat that it couldn't idle. When I explained it he started about how fast the 554rwhp car was that I simply couldn't understand what was required to drive the car???? So I replaced my stock + Roe sc/600rwhp GTS with a 720rwhp (+100hp Nitrous kit) GTS instead of his Venom 550R.

I did purchase a Venom spoiler though.
