I have been trying to brake in my ACR this past week and want to have a good alignment done on the car before I have it out on the track. Anybody have a good base set up for the car. Please keep in mind this is a street car and will only be tracked 3-5 times a year. I am ok with negative camber on the street but with that said I don't want to drive like my race car would on the street. Let me know what has worked for you guys?

Thanks

I used the Summer 2008 VCA Viper magazine article for setup on my ACR. I lowered car to rough track settings. Then dialed in more front camber (-2.2 degrees) and set the front toe to 1/8" total toe out. I also adjusted the shocks to the recommed track settings(front = 6,6)(rear = 5,5). Before tracking the car also change the factory brake fluid, you might get one track day out of it.

David,
Thanks for the input. Currently on the NY crappy roads the car is very twitchy and tracks off line a lot. I expected this based on the tires and suspension did you find that the more aggressive alignment made it worse?

I do not drive the car much on the street, but I thought the car followed the road ruts less after the alignment changes. Although that is hard to imagine adding toe out would help tracking??
I am more comfortable saying that there was a dramatic improvement in on track turn in, overall grip, and tire wear.

It is the FLAT-FOOTED OE-Spec alignment that wants to track ruts and seams. The OE alignment is intended to give you better tire and gas mileage, NOT better handling! The ACR has stock sticky Sport-Cups that exacerbate this issue.

If you change your camber and toe to a mild performance alignment, to be flat-footed in CORNERS, you will get a 75% improvement in seam-following. The downside is your tires wear faster on inside shoulders, but it TRANSFORMS the handling!

Can you do any of this "realignment business" on a stock '08, or only on the multi adjustable KW suspension that the ACR come with? I would like to gt a llittle better handling and turn in, and I'm willing to give up a little tire treadlife?

In the Viper article they give ride height specs for smooth track settings - front: 102mm, rear - 136mm

I decided to go with the SRT recommended rough track settings - front: 111mm, rear - 140mm
These setting provide a more livable street ride height.

Alignment can be done on '08 Vipers & ACRs, on the standard Viper you are not able to easily adjust the ride height like on the ACR with the KW shocks.

-2.2 neg camber in the front may be too much for 3-5 track days. I would prefer the -2.25 but I'm a track rat. The car will be very twitchy on the street, it takes getting used to. I ran a '08 ACR at Willow Springs and did a -1.7 front, -.09 rear camber, +6 caster and a neutral toe. It turned very good times on the track without being a hand full on the street.
