Reading your post, I'm curious also, and will add a few
questions. How do you make a diagnosis of broken rings without
pulling the heads? - is there not other damage that could
reflect 30lb difference. Wouldn't it be appropriate to go
ahead and pull the heads for a more accurate diagnosis? Did
they pull the oil pan?

Enzo,

I have been to ACS several times for dynos and I have talked with those guys up at the track many times. I believe they are very qualified and from what I know they are straight shooters.

To be honest, I would trust them with my car more than I would trust Fitzgerald.

Sure sounds like you have some damaged rings if they are not hearing air from the intake or exhaust. Did they check the coolant? You don't have a blown head gasket do you? Was there air leaking into the oil pan? If the rings are bad the air should be heard at the oil cap. It's also possible you have damaged cylinder heads - not too likely but I've heard of other people having this problem with HMS heads.

Let us know what the diagnosis is. How many miles on the car? How many miles on the HMS package?
