Hi Guys,

I know very minor and probably obvious, but are both of these wires supposed to plug into the back of the cigar lighter receptacle? Mine has never worked and the round red wire was not plugged in.

Also, will the cigar lighter also work as a power outlet to charge a phone or similar?

Thanks in advance.

Not sure about the wires, mine had gone out due to a fuse. I use mine all the time to plug my phone in, no different than any other car.

Yes the red round plug goes into the middle stud and the black ground wire slides onto the flat connector.

I recently replaced mine as well. For what it's worth, the cigar lighter fuse can blow when disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. Also, power to the cigar lighter is always available, even without the key in or turned to accessory. So just don't leave something plugged in that has a parasitic drain.

Edit: That's the behavior or my 93. I suppose Gen 2 could be different....

I plugged both wires in and the cigar lighter does work now. It's a shared 25amp fuse on mine, I can't recall now what else is on that circuit. I'll check it tomorrow and see if it's always hot or not.

Thanks for the response!
