After cleaning and re-oiling my K&N air filters, I forgot to rehook the little air sensor that plugs in the airbox on the upper right hand side of the right hand air box. I knew I wasnt driving the car yesterday, so I didnt worry about it. Ofcourse, my dad moved the car out of the garage so workmen could get to the backyard without bumping into it, so now....check engine light on. Is there any trick to clearing the code? I have reconnected the sensor and tried cranking it a few times hoping the code would clear on the 2nd drive cycle, but no luck. A Roe Scan reader will be ordered next week so I wont have this problem again :)

It may take 3-4 run cycles...not just start cycles.

Also, can go to an AutoZone...get it read and cleared for free.

Yep...or you can buy a reader (Sean Roe sells one) for about $60 and it will be there in your toolbox if you ever need to read a code....and it will clear it as well. :)

I took the Snake to Advance Auto and asked to have the code scanned and cleared. Their diagnostic tool didnt have a 96' Viper listed, but they found a 8.0L engine listed under Dodge pickup trucks(??). Even then, their tool wouldnt scan and acted like it wasnt connected. The guy told me to go home, disconnect the negative battery cable for 15 mins and it should be fine. Luckily, when I cranked up to leave, the engine light was off. I guess I had done enough start/run cycles to get it to clear itself. A scanner from Roe Racing has already been ordered, so next time, I'll be able to scan and clear it in my garage and not even have to worry about taking it anywhere.
