(You can skip the story and scroll down to the pic to see the great deal)

I was looking around at upgrading my brakes. I am too poor to upgrade to 18" rims and tires and do Dave's upgrade, so I am thinking about ditching the EBC greens and going with the EBC reds. A buddy suggested I also change my stock rubber lines out with braided steel lines. He says his complete set was just over $100 for his C5. I looked at the vendors sites and this is what I found:

PartsRack.com has Stainless Steel Brake Lines. You can buy a complete set(strongly recommended), front set, or a set for the rears. I clicked on the complete set, listed at $179. A little more than I thought it would be, but not too bad. I noticed that the front set and rear set were listed at -$179. So now I'm thinking they are $179 for each axle set, or $358 for the complete set. Not sure what made me do it, but I added a front set, and then a rear set, for a total of $179.00. That price includes a complete set, a front set, and a rear set. I then deleted the complete set. I'm now at $0.00 for a front and rear set. I then logged in, to get my final price. Shipping is $7.00. Order total is..... $7.00?? Now that is a great deal!! :D

I'm sure it'll be some bait-n-switch tactic, like the website price was not accurate or the price listed was not accurate. Something like that. :rolaugh: I noticed that the links on the main page are all one off, meaning that you have to mouse over the exhaust section to get to the brakes sub-menu, and so on for the other linked sections.

I was about to send the order, when I realized it was Monday. :omg: Not sure if Jon would've thought it was as funny as I do.

Here's the deal, as seen earlier today:

You guys think he'll come down some on the shipping?? :lmao:

This car will rarely see the track, so would I get any benefits from the steel lines, or should I just stick with the rubber lines?

I'm in for a group buy if Jon comes off the exorbitant shipping price some :D This reminds me of when Bernie Katz had a Bumblebee GTS in the classifieds for $49.99. I called him and ordered 10. The check with his name on it for $500 is still on my mantle waiting for the cars to be delivered.

I'll help out! He can ship all orders placed by AL/TN/GA VCA members to my house, and I will bring them to the next big event we have. I realize it is a huge burden on my part, but since he's offering a modest discount, I feel it's only right of me to do so.

Sorry guys I just bought up the 100 sets he had! :D

VERY FUNNY ! Watch your mail Mark and Chad , but dont hold yur breath!

The "details" section of that product explains the pricing from $179 / FOUR, to $349/4, the year-model-Generation matters. We DO try to have the lowest prices, and OPTION, but $0.00 is even BELOW the VCA discount price!

I just fired the single mom that has been maintaining our site as her sole income source. THAT'LL TEACH HER to make a mistake...... THANKS FORD for pointing out the glitch. I have placed a $10 parts credit in YOUR file for your kindness....

Do you think the steel lines are really necessary on a street driven car?? Would there be any gains to the braking system, as far as normal every day driving?

While the single mom is clearing her desk out, have her fix the front page error. At the top left, under categories, the 4 black arrows should each be moved up one spot. Mouse over them to see what I am talking about. Are we up to $20 credit now?? :lmao:

way to go cyaford - you got a single mom fired!! :hitwithrock:

(just kidding with ya) LOL

I'm fairly certain it was the result of Chad placing 100 orders. It could be a good thing, though. Now the single mom will have nowhere to go, except back down to Georgia to move back in with the child's biological father. She worked at ******'s before she was pregnant. All we know is the father drove a McViper, which is how she landed the gig with JonB. :dunno:

Might want to fire her again but after she fixes the menu. I was comparing prices when I though my dyslexia was kicking in:

i dont see any problem tony. i thinki the brake catagory is correct.

brake calipers have been proven to be more aerodynamic when they have been powdercoated, compared to having alot of dirt on them.

i also just checked both my calipers, and my knuckles confirm that they certainly have a "hard top" on them.

i however dont have any wings, splitters or spoilers on my brakes anywhere. that must be more of a hard-core racing thing, possibly found on comp coupes. :dunno:
