.....A question--How much time does it take to get in and out of the team tech. Do you use them just for racing and stock belts for everyday driving? If you do use the stock belts some how difficult is it to move the team tech out of the way?.......I know the TT would increase the safety factor but if you have them on the passenger side - well I don't think that would go over with my wife as a passenger. I can see her now trying to get in and out of the TT. Hey-Just a thought-that may be fun to help her get in and out of the harness. I may call Jon right now and put in a order.
I LOVE THIS POST! Answers Follow, but: As a licensed Pace Car Driver I have belted in probably way more than 1000++ people for Viper (and SOB) Pace Car rides. Belting the LADIES -regardless of age- can be a very fun and flirty event...or it can be a ******-harasssment case waiting to happen! I could tell you some stories.....including a photo-op with a Michelin Calendar model at VOI-1 who wore ONLY the 5-pt harness in my red RT ! (I fumbled with those belts a while). ANSWERS:
You will probably spend 10 minutes the first time FINE TUNING the belt adjustments due to your seat and tilt and hand position. Thereafter it takes about 30 seconds to buckle up the ROTARY TEAM TECHS. [the old latch-link were fumbley a PAIN!] The buckle accepts belts in any order. Install loosely, and then tug tight. 30 seconds. After lap one, TUG EM AGAIN on the front straight as you will have settled into the seat.
Removing them takes 5 seconds...[ or 1 second if the car is inverted and/or burning. Crash-Tested. ] I usually LOOSEN each belt first, to make it easier to get back in again. Twist the buckle either direction and they all POP out.
A 2nd harness is URGENTLY SUGGESTED when U have on-track passengers or instructors. GIVE THEM YOUR SAFETY LEVEL ! STOW the harness for street driving, as it is illegal in all 50 states to use ONLY this harness ! You must (also) use the intertia-reel OE belt to be 'legal.' Some choose matching FOUR POINTS in the passenger seats, for ease of install, operation, and cost.
When I take long road trips I usually wear my harness loosely, so I can reach the radio, Valentine One, and cell phone. They will SAVE YOUR LIFE and greatly minimize injuries. But they can be stowed as many have described above.
Commercial: Team Tech is a SYSTEM that can be RE-CERTIFIED as needed, every 2,3,5 years as your sanctioning body requires. YOU DONT HAVE TO BUY NEW ONES ! Saves 40-60% of new cost. We have unpadded harnesses in 7 colors and contract stich from $149 /4pt, to $189 6pt. Fully padded versions add $100. Both Tommy and Bobby Archer will tell you that PADDED harnesses significantly minimize skin and organ damage...while saving your life. Back when 1998-2000 OE harnesses were federally recalled, and parts were unavailable for 1.5 YEARS, PartsRack was the ONLY vendor that D-C allowed to do warranty replacements, and customers were reimbursed for our harneses. We DO know Viper harnesses....and we were instrumental in getting Team Tech as the primary vendor for the Viper Comp Coupe 7pt factory harness........ Thank You.
