Looking at that calc 4.11's should allow me to get the most out of my gearing. My mpg would drop from about 22 to 15 on the hwy though... :D

Hmm.. Well I still make over 20mpg with my gears cruising 70mph. But I know for a fact I cant go 100mph in 3rd. So I must have either 3.73's or 4.10's.

How strong is 5th/6th gears in these cars? I have always been in the school of thought OD gears is mainly for just cruising... Can they hold 750-800rwhp?

I really love these gears in this car. It is a blast to drive on the street. Top of fourth comes in no time at all. Took me some time, but I'm finally learning how to roll the car out in first, and gently squeeze the throttle in 2nd gear to get going. 3rd just has a little spin and hooks at about 65mph. Then within seconds I'm already at the top of fourth 110-115mph.

If 6th gear is useful, I might just keep the gears. I just want to be able to hit 200mph. I'm just wonder if it will get there faster with 3.07's and only hitting the top of 5th, or with my current gears and going into 6th?

When gears are changed there should be a small metal tag on the pumpkin stamped with your gear ratio.

Well of course their should be... Is that typical practice in the viper world? I sure know in the mustang/maro/vette world it isn't ;)

Yeah, thats what I plan on doing when I'm back into town. Right now I'm about 200 miles away from it for the next few weeks:(

The OD's in the Viper: 5th = .74/1; 6th = .50/1.
There is a gear set (5th and 6th) that moves 5th closer to 4th, and 6th closer to 5th.
I don't know the exact ratios, but as I understand, it makes 5th and 6th very usable (especially 6th).

Disturbed: Do you have this gear set? Seems to me ...........

Depends on what you use the car for. My Roe supercharged car runs great in 6th. Even has passing and hill climbing power at 1200rpm!

Drag racing my car went 138mph on stock tires. Changing to 3;55's meant an extra shift before the finish line slowing down the car. 3.08 went back into the car to improve performance.

Don,

Nope, stock gears. Set of 3.73's with a longer 1st and 2nd with a shorter 5th and 6th would be the ticket for this motor.
