My friends all ways get a kick out how much the valets and other people fuss over the Viper when we go out. There's only 2 or 3 places I’ll ever valet the Viper, so when we see them pull the beast around, it’s always interesting to see other peoples reaction. Especially since it’s no where’s near the most expensive car at the restaurant. So my buddy makes a comment last night. He’s going to out do me and buy a car with more HP than the Viper. I said to him good luck, They just up’d the HP to 600 this year. So I started thinking, how much would you have to spend to buy a bone stock sports car, with a HP rating north of 600 now?

What an exclusive list! I have no choice but to buy the Gen IV (with the Mopar 675 hp option) even though it has that boring Gen III look. The price/performance/warranty can't be beat. But I'm keeping my Gen II. :2tu: Now if they can only make it in blue/white for the first year.

Start listing the cars and how much they cost and that 600hp mark on the 08 Viper looks dang impressive.

That was my point. We really have to hand it to this American company and the value for the dollar vs HP, these Vipers really give.

My next question IS the Mopar 675hp kit, and how much would a person have to spend to get more HP in a different sports car.

Has there been a price tag on the 08 with 675 kit?

$181,000 + options. Great car but WAYYY to expensive, especially since it looks like a $100K SL550 or SL55. The only good thing is that you can find them for over $60K off sticker with LOW miles (under 5000). It must be a great car to drive.

The Ferrari 599 is $255K.

The Maybach 62S is $429K

The Mercedes/McLaren SLR 722 (with 641HP) costs $483K

And now out of production, the Porsche CGT (605HP) $440K

Ferrari Enzo (660HP) MSRP $643K

Maserati MC12 (624HP) $770K

Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR (612HP) 1,573K

McLaren F1 (627HP) $1,000K

The new Viper is definitely in select company with having over 600HP stock.

Or you can get a Gen3 with a Paxton and have 750 reliable Hp for about $85K on a good day and drive it everyday! Gen3 cars with the S/C option are still king of the hill for the $$$ IMHO.

So add the Mopar 675hp package and you'll need a new list.
Way to go DC :headbang:

either that or turbo 03-04 cobra mustangs, single turbo supra's, etc.

I still think those are the best 3 cars that you get the bang for the buck out of...

03-04 cobra
96-99 GTS or 97-99 RT10
93-98 Supra TT

very easy to mod to big hp cars

I did the 03-04 cobra thing... but sooner or later you learn... the viper is the ultimate street car

We are in fact working on an extended warrentee to offer S/C customers that should cover whatever the factory will not on the engine. Paxton will always back there products through us, so this shoud be able to keep you safe. We have been working on this for sometime now and it s getting final approval with the legal dept. More details to come.

And my thoughts on the Gen 3 cars were based on the bang for the buck. I know there are plenty of the TT cars out there you would not want to mess with! :2tu:

I think you named them all btw does this mean that the viper will be the only 600HP car under 6 digits?

I think that since there is an English car listed in MSN's old top 10 list that is sold with a Viper TT engine (rated 1,000hp) that Hennessey's anc Lingenfelter's cars should also be considered as being at the top of the list, expecially when they're rated at over 1,000hp for about $200,000.

The Ferrari 599 is $255K. yeah, right. I was in Vegas at the Ferrari dealership and the cheapest 599 was $529,000.

The Maybach 62S is $429K

The Mercedes/McLaren SLR 722 (with 641HP) costs $483K

And now out of production, the Porsche CGT (605HP) $440K

Ferrari Enzo (660HP) MSRP $643K again, in Vegas there was an Enzo there, a USED Enzo that was $880,000! The Enzo replacement the FXX with 850 hp was $1.43 million.

Maserati MC12 (624HP) $770K

Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR (612HP) 1,573K

McLaren F1 (627HP) $1,000K

I am not sure what is really going on w/ Mercedes Benz. While they put up some monstrous hp numbers, their torque is often very low compared to other sports cars and in the 200 mph shootout a month or two ago, the SLR didnt even qualify, it never reached 200 mph.

Some of these exotic car hp numbers sound really good, but when it comes to actual performance most of them do not hold a candle to the 08 Viper.
