If I were Dodge, I would hold a healthy respect for a man known openly as "The Wizard" who knows his way around a rifle and has old friends with access to USAF ordnance.

You know, but that's just me thinking here. :nono:

Chuck, I don't know you directly, but am well-acquainted with your reputation. I do hope you and all the other supporters here can find a way to beat this decision by Dodge. If for no other reason than that yours is the oldest family owned Dodge dealership in the world, their closing of your business is enough of a statement of corporate values for me to lose all faith/respect in the Chrysler and Dodge brand names. That feeling becomes exponentially stronger due to the extremely positive image your shop has maintained over the years.

Someone needs to park their car by the HQ front gates with a "Save Tator's" banner on it for a few weeks.

Chuck, I'm still telling the 'newbies' here to contact you (and I give your phone #).
I'm sorry that already you are not allowed to order new vehicles...that doesn't sound good. We're still writing every day...and getting different responses as well. Honestly don't know if it's helping or hindering? ALL OUR BEST....mike & juli

I am just not as civilized as most of you I guess, b/c I think that what Chrysler is doing to Chuck is bullsh*t. They obviously do not understand that all business is local and most people buy cars b/c their neighbor or friend has one or recommended a particular car. They must not understand that service is about relationships. They also dont understand that Viper is the halo vehicle for Dodge, and w/out Tator the Vipers from New Jersey to the Canadian border would be having some serious problems if Chuck was not around. The reason many of us have and keep our Viper is b/c of Tator, his annual BBQ, and of course his deviled eggs.:D

Chrysler not understanging these basic tenets of business is why they are losing so much money. Maybe if they listened to us for a change instead of some bean counters on a yacht in the Mediterranean Ocean they would connect back to car lovers and get back in the black.

**I think if we keep bombarding them daily...and they have to keep 'replying', it'll stay on their radar?**

I got the same canned, bullsh#t reply that Baz got. I'm guessing they're tired of answering our emails...and getting our business.

Too BAD if they're 'tired', right?!! I write for 2 of us, so I got the 2 replies (yes, bs)...BUT they ARE emailing all of us BACK, so that's gotta count for SOMEthing....they're being DELUGED with these from us...that's a GOOD thing. I keep 'em going daily!! Can't WAIT to see 'who' is gonna write the next canned message back to me! (AND one for Mike too!)~~~juli

Well I guess I will not be buying my son a Challenger for his first car. If this is how they support the only car dealer that I know that give 10 Star service than I guess it will be a Camero or Evo for him. I may also get rid of my viper for a Lambo or other exotic if Chuck is not a dealer to take car of my car. He just did a full service on my car and he called me within 2 hours of my picking up my car to make sure everything was great. How many dealers call you to ask about your service. Chrysler listen up to the community. You will not be getting a lot of other Dodge, Jeep, Sprinter or Chrysler new car sales from this customer base.

Hmmmm- Sounds like the RIGHT people are not listening.
Perhaps, just maybe, those three e-mail address should re-appear....:headbang:

Just thinking out loud...

But then I'd probably be banned!:lmao:

I'm on the left coast, so I'll probably never meet The Wizard!

Please know I feel your pain Chuck. As a fellow small (rural) Chrysler-Jeep dealer, I know exactly what you are going through! These processes are difficult to explain to those that do not deal with Chrysler in the terms that we have to. They don't want us little guys around any more. :dunno: Hang in there!

Where are the Detroit VCA members? They should be manning signs at HQ!

Anyone in MI with contacts at Car & Driver mag in Ann Arbor should give them a heads up about the entire story..

I don't think Jay Leno really knows anybody here on Viperclub. Too bad too. I think this would be a great cause to take up for him on Chuck's behalf.

One of my friends from highschool back in the day- his dad was good friends with Jay Leno :D

Chuck had mentioned contacting Jay Leno in a previous post. They have had correspondance in the past IIRC. Since this post was asking for updates I was curious.
About Jay knowing anyone in the Viper Nation, he also knows John B and Maurice Liang. I am not sure how many other members that he knows.

Good question, Ratical...maybe Chuck will chime in here himself. Best way to answer a question...right from the source the WIZARD-HIS-SELF!!!
Just want to point out that AGAIN I received a survey (this is daily!) from Chrysler asking HOW 'they' did at answering my emails (one sent from Mike and one sent from me, so two emails sent daily)...I responded same as I did on ALL of them, "COMPLETE DISSATISFACTION" and would I recommend their company to others "ABSOLUTELY NOT". Then, I send the emails back and we do it AGAIN!!!! I say GET THESE EMAIL to SOMEONE in authority/the letters/the phone calls....to ONE PERSON IN AUTHORITY.
That's all I ask...again....and again...and again...I will continue to do so...only until CHUCK asks me to stop. ~juli

All good things come to an end. Eventually the VIPER's production will end. Dealerships that have been dealerships for 100 years or 1,000 years eventually might not be anymore. In all honesty if I had a dealer that wasn't pulling it's weight or not living up to whatever standard it was to be a dealer, I wouldn't care if the owner was the wizard, the sorcerer or the grand pooba.

It's like everyone here is slamming big corporate business tactics and decisions, when in fact - the only reason the Dodge Viper even exists is because of the big corporate money put into creating, developing, refining and producing it every year. And the only reason that corporate money existed was because of the brash crappy big corporate business tactics everyone is rallying against.

What you need to realize, is that Chrylser MAYBE cared what the public thought when they were a public company, but now that they've been taken private, it's a whole different ballgame. You can write them and stage a rally and no one is going to care. The people at the top took the company private so they could in fact do whatever the hell they wanted with it WITHOUT the influence of public opinion.

That means destroying whole model lines including maybe the Viper. Getting rid of dealerships and suppliers they don't like for whatever reason. And, eventually, if they can't turn the company around to their satisfaction, part the whole thing out, like a totalled Viper on ebay.

My personal odds on this are 50/50 as it stands already. A quote in Fortune one year ago states in considering reasons for the Cerberus acquisition that "Chrysler isn't worth very much as an automaker". Cerberus is just doing a little saving face by trying to turn things around and polish it up before they send it to the chop shop. Again from Fortune "Cerberus' most likely strategy would seem to be to dress Chrysler up for a sale to another automaker - probably a foreign one"

Those customer surveys they're doing, etc. are just leftovers from before. The new owners of Chrysler already have their minds made up about what they're going to do. Customer satisfaction surverys aren't going to play into it one bit.

I mean really Chuck, if they're treating you that bad, do you really even WANT to do business with them? It's like if your girlfriend/wife refuses to have sex with you anymore because you don't make them enough money. Are you going to sit around begging them to reconsider and stage a protest rally? Or find someone else to date?

Maybe in 5 years Tator's Chevrolet will be the premiere Z06 service center in the US??
