I've seen conical air filters connected directly to the intakes of Viper engines before (i.e. no tubes or air box). The filters look like this...

...but don't have a shroud. They are just connected directly to the intake on the engine.

So my question is, can this be done to a Gen II engine without requiring any special modifications, who makes the filters and what model are they, and is it worth the effort?

ibf Dave: YES, I used the search function but couldn't find the exact answer I was looking for.

They make them, but no way I'd put them on my car. All they'll do is **** in engine heat, and look ricey. But then again that's my opinion. If I was gonna go cone, I'd get the K&N system in your picture.

Yep, Dave's link answered everything.

Thanks!

However, I also know how you find these links so easily, Dave. Because you've participated in every discussion on the board.

Ah, yes, the infamous "HOT AIR INTAKE"....... company slogans :

"Look Cool....Run Hot"

"More Bling, Less Zing"

"Who Needs POWER? More Bling Per Hour"
