I have owned 2 Vipers since new and used NAPA Gold and WIX filters for a long time. I track my street car far more than most anyone with Mobil 1 15W-50 exclusively. I sample once a year at oil change and evaluate the results. I have gone 3-4 months between starts without worry about starvation.

My engine builder said he was VERY impressed with how all the bearings looked at 36k rebuild, and 41k re-hone. Last time, he changed one rod's bearing pair because there was a small speck embedded in it and it was easy. I would say that for the vast majority of Gen 1&2 N/A builds and some light/moderate boost levels, all this paranoia about filters is a bit overblown. Let the engine warm up before you flog it and you'll be fine.

Later gens are more particular and I won't make any recommendations without first-hand experience.

I agree.. I run WIX XP, if your concerned about the bypass valve rate, go with the
MOBIL M1204A Extended Performance (have run this as well and its $8.14 at Rock Auto), its 14 psi which is roughly the same as the Viper Filter.

^true^ I was in my tool chest a couple weeks ago and found this yellowed & wrinkled paper shop towel. "WTH.....oh yeah."

I have 6 Mopar #05281090 that were then changed to a Mopar #05037836AB later. The ones I have are the original #05281090 that I had for my 1998 GTS if anyone's interested.Doesn't fit the gen 5.
