Can someone give me a good estimate of what the ratio of Vettes to Viper is. You know for every 25 vettes made Dodge makes 1 viper.

Thanks
John

I was under the impression that annual production numbers averaged (very) roughly 20,000 to 2,000, which would indicate 10:1.

I have only seen a handful of Vipers on the road in my entire life, where as Corvettes are just about a daily thing. I could probably recall just about every Viper I've ever seen on the road. Not so much with the Vettes!

I know from 92-99 ( i think or maybe 2000) there had only been 11,000 Vipers produced. Thats not exactly accurate but it was close to that.

ViperRT96 made a very good post about a year ago on this topic. He did a lot of research! Basically, it works out to about 16 vettes to one Viper between 92 and 02.

But if you take into account all the Vettes made starting in '53 it's got to be around 1,000:1 or more.

since 1953 there have been 1.4 million corvettes made. since 1992 there have been 30,000 vipers made. there were only 4,038 ford GT's made for the years 2005 & 2006 only.

i would say the actual number is like 25:1 for current production.

from what i see, id say 14,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000:1 is more accurate.

Not quite 1000:1. Between 1953 and 2003 Chevy made 1,302,671 Corvettes  .
Between 1992 and 2003 Dodge made 19,824 Vipers. That's about 66 Vettes to every Viper.

As for anything beyond 2003, I couldn't work the numbers correctly because we don't have the Viper #'s.

Speaking of Viper #s for beyond 2003...where are they? Surely someone must have a point of contact somewhere to get this information, broken down by colors possibly but at the very least, total #s produced!

Chad's right. Let's not get carried away.
The ratio is strictly academic. 66:1, 100:1 whatever...
Perhaps the reason you see more than what should seem like a reasonable ratio is 'cause the 'vette owners tend to drive them year round, rain or shine.

One will never know and why not? Because something as trivial as keeping track of how many were built is not done (or we'd have the #s - see the post in the SRT forum about how many Yellow 2005s were built). Most major manufacturers can tell you how many were built, by color, etc.

Regardless, there are a crap load of Vettes to each Viper. I went to a meeting the other week at a remote building and 4 C5s were parked with 100' of each other albeit they were hard to see being surrounded by all of the SUVs.

I find it disturbing that Chysler appears unwilling to divulge specific manufacturing numbers on the Viper & other SRT vehicles.

Tom Sidlick asked SRT to compute the # of Vipers manufactured thru VOI-9.
That was Model Year 92-2006...15 years of production. (only 100 GT2s !)

The average was 1645 Vipers / year. Corvettes build 35,000 - 40,000+ / year.

That is approximately 1 Viper for 25 Vettes.

That's why Tom said "they wont miss this one"...................

They gave us all the #s 92-2002..... At the most recent SRT Talk Session here on site (you can see it) they stated they WOULD get us the SRT-Viper numbers.... but the guy who kept those stats for us as a favor retired last year.

PS there were 100 GT2s in a special VIN block......
