I just started to hear a gear noise in second gear. It goes away in 1st or 3rd. It started after I downshifted to first while going about 10 mph then got on it. Didn't miss any shifts. This is a 2008.
Any ideas what this is? Keep driving till it breaks or time for a tranny now? Thanks

I am having trouble with my 2008, link is above. It keeps blowing the fuse ASD1. To keep things simple I decided to ask this question in a separate thread.
ASD1 is blowing...
I have a problem that no one has been able to solve. The 2008 ran OK for a while with the Mopar computer then started running like a 1970 Plymouth with bad rings and valves.
First time it went to the Viper shop with a Viper tech he said there was water in 8 or 9 and 10. He looked inside and...
It took 40 miles or more for the Mopar computer to adjust after installation. The 08 is now on 93 octane.
How long will it take for the computer to adjust to race gas or a mixture of race and 93 octane?
I wondering if I go to the track will the computer adjust to race gas fast enough to be...
We put the new Mopar PCM in our 2008. The engine sound is that of a dutuned engine and the throttle response is slow. Does it take time for the new PCM to adjust? There is about 40 miles on the PCM and I may feel some improvement in the last few miles. Thanks
Is there a kit to raise the seats, especially the drivers seat? Or instructions on what to make and how to do it?
The car always felt big to me. Now I realized that I was sitting too low and had a poor view of the right fender. Sitting on towels makes the visibility better. I'm average height...
We put a front splitter and rear wing on our 08. Its not an ACR. Now the trunk doesn't stay open. It stays open just long enough to make you think it will stay, then it sends you to the emergency room for stiches in your head.
I figure the same problem may occur with the ACR. It there a...
I swapped the stock rear for a 3.55, the standard design. I noticed a whine immediately, over the Balanger headers so it must be significant. My wife noticed it immediately. I don't want to mention vendor because everyone tries to do good work so its nobody's fault. The weather has been figid...
My wife is still annoyed that I didn't get an ACR. She wants the Viper to look mean. The ACR kit from Dodge was too expensive, so we put on an aftermarket kit. At the same time we put on a 3.55 rear, but its too cold to test the acceleration.
We just wanted to share some pictures with you...
I'm confused about the effect of the rear gear ratio. Below are two links on the feeling of low torque on the 08s.
It seems to me a higher(numerically) gear ratio has to increase the pushing power to the road. So in the absence of any wheelspin a higher ratio should accelerate faster. Drag...
We went to a car show and I took a gentleman for a ride in our Viper. He was taking pictures of the car. A couple days later we got a CD in the mail with about 20 great pictures of our car. Its Venom Red. We really liked the pictures and wanted to share them with you.
We just put some new stripes on our car. So what do you all think? It was hard to get true color in the pictures. This is the best we could do.
Hello to the MD/VA VCA. We are new to the Viper world and will attend our first event this Saturday Aug 16 in Maryland. We are looking forward to...
Where is the on-off switch for the passenger air bag. The owner's manual says the center console, but it in no present in my 2008. I didn't see it in the glove compartment and not in the trunk.
When someone is in the passenger seat the yellow light comes on that says the airbag is turned off...
In the Corvette world many drivers put in stiffer sway bars. I don't see this on this Viper forum. Do you guys, and girls, add stiffer sway bars? What about on the 2008? If so, where do you get them? I found one on PartsRack but I don't know if that one is a big improvement. Thanks
Hello to all. We got our first Viper a short time ago from Woodhouse, with Motons but the rest is stock. We read all the stuff about it being hard to drive and spin outs without warning, so we were nervous about going to the track. But we took the Viper to the track anyway and drove it quite a...
We are considering putting Belanger headers and exhaust on our 2008. We live in Maryland. Does anyone know if they pass the DMV emissions testing? Thanks.
We are considering changing to a higher gear ratio. We have a 2008 and I think the rear end is 3.07.
What is the top speed in each gear? I think I'll hit 150 on the straight at Summit Point and I don't want to shift into fifth.
I thought there was a sticky with all this info but I...
Are there any VCA or Viper events at Summit Point, West Virginia? We go there for track events. I didn't see any events there on the VCA calender. Thanks
OK Guys, don't beat up on me, but I think the 2008 could use more torque at low RPM. I have had a couple 383 ci stroker Vets and never downshifted them and used 6th gear a lot and 5th for passing. With the 08 Viper I spend more time in 4th and 5th. The engine has less low speed torque than I...
For the Pocono track day is the driving on the full oval course? Or do you come off the main track for more curved roads in the middle? I think 2.5 miles is the full course, but I'm not sure. Thanks
We just got a 2008. I'm tying to learn heel toe shifting. I have lots of track experience with Vets. I could get away without blipping the throttle on downshifts if I was tight on timing. Yes, I went through a lot of clutches, but normally the rear was stable.
With the Viper the rear wheels...
I saw the announcement for the Viper Club Zone rendevous May 24-26 at Pocono. Tne track from mentions several makes of car for track day May 26. How much driving time do you get? With lots of cars I can imagine getting a small amount of track time.
Also, can you register just for track day...
