I don't know if your list is complete. My vin # shows mine is effected and it is not on the list. This is the first paragraph of the recall.

NOTE: THIS SERVICE ACTION APPLIES TO

The v is for Viper and the G is for goat....ah I mean truck. Like I said above: I would not bank my motor on that vin list (not that I won't keep driving mine)

My dealership. They contacted zone this morning and got the list. When they pulled my VIN up there was no comment on needing the work. I double checked by calling the D/C recall center and once again was assured my motor was not subject to the recall.

I have been a number 1 pest to D/C this afternoon after reading 1Tony1's post as to the validity of the list, and whether my car is actually on it or not. After a dozen or so calls to various D/C numbers from tech to service to warranty to recall etc no one can find any evidence my car is involved. I will fly it, and if it grenades I will enjoy the new car.

My VIN is not on the list provided above but I have been contacted by my dealer so it is definately not complete as 1TONT1 pointed out.

What I would like know is who said that this is RECALL. The letter that went to dealers is NOT a recall. I repeat, it is not a recall. It is a Rapid Responce Transmittal to have dealers check their inventory and perform a repair procedure. Owners of the sold vehicles on the list will be contacted to have the same repair procedure completed.

Not a "RECALL?"

Seems a lot like a recall to me. Cars have an issue, which, if not fixed will lead to catastrophic engine failure. Customers need to bring them in asap for service. If that's not a "RECALL" then I guess my understanding of the definition of the word is different than however Dodge is using it.

They can call (or not call) it anything they want. I'm just glad that they got the word out before my engine was seriously damaged.

A skunk by any other name still smells. I have a very important concern if we do look at this as being something other than a recall as Rich suggests. All of the avenues I have been directed down by D/C have referenced recall data. If D/C is not looking at this as a recall, then there is truly no database one can look into to see if your engine is affected. A person must wait until they get called/mailed, or their engine grenades...

Sorry to have provided all with an incomplete list. This is the exact list I was given by my dealership when I made inquiry about my car. Because my build date was 17 Sep and my VIN was not on the list I bugged the h*ll out of D/C unitl I got a call back from one of the PVO engineers this morning. I was told the dates 15Sep-1Jan were only a loose reference for chassis. The important info is when your engine was built. To my surprise a chassis moving down the line on any given day can receive a motor built before or after the chassis starts moving down the line. The engineer said they look at the build date of your motor before a Service Action notice is sent out. Hence the reason a general recall has not been issued. D/C can identify each specific motor and notify that specific owner.

Just found out mines one with the problem. I called the selling dealer and was told they knew Tuesday but had no parts to fix it. I have yet to be notified by my dealer or Dodge. I have asked the Wizard , and he has agreed to preform the surgery. This kinda ***** as I bought a SL500 that I had for 2 weeks before it went in for 3 weeks for a new transmission. I didn't feel good about that car so I traded it for the SRT10 that now has problems. $185,000 worth of headaches combined. I should have kept the problem free 01 GTS.

I can't fault Dodge for this one, it is not an engineering or design problem. As I understand it, it is something truly stupid, letting a loctite resevoir run dry. With all the sensors we have these days on brake fluid, radiator, etc resevoirs it would seem this machine would have a sensor.

Unfortunately the VIN list is not complete. My Viper's VIN, which is not listed, is also one that must be repaired. I am not a happy camper.

If I am reading the "recall" correctly, it should not be a surprise to you that it is affected. From what I am reading, Iam taking it to mean all cars produced bewteen those dats (which yours is) OR on the list. The list may be exceptions from the date rule.

mine is on the list, a dealer ran my vin and pulled it up, came up as rapid response transmittal 04-006, must be performed
