gen 3 \"R\" hook (towing) installation Problem (please help)

I'm getting ready to head west to VOI9 and trying to get my '04 onto my new open aluminum trailer with my new tie down straps.

I bought a set of 4 "r" hooks as was suggested numerous times on the board here. When I go to install the hooks into the slots in the rear of the frame, I cant get them to go into place properly, so when I hook the straps up, the only part of the r hook that is holding onto the frame is the "hook" of the "r" not the part that has the pads on it. If I cross the rear straps the cross wise tension helps some to make the other part of the hook make contact with the car, but it doesn't seem to be as good a fit as the fronts are.

Does any one have a pic of what the rears are supposed to look like when they are installed correctly? I am scheduled to leave tomorrow aft. and any help would be appreciated.

I only use R hooks up front. I attach the strap hooks directly at the rear.

The R hooks work in both front and rear slots. My car is in Las Vegas now so I can't take photos. Put the long end of the R in first by turning it 90 degrees until in and then slid it up until the bottom of the short end clears the bottom of the slot and slide the whole hook downward. I hope this helps.

Can someone tell me what VOI9 is? I been hearing about it in Las Vegas lately, but what exactly is it? Sorry to hijack the thread.

another option is to have long and wide tire straps made to hold down your viper to the trailer. We do this on NASCAR Modifides as it allows the suspension to move on bumps and dips in the road.
