Well , lets do the math.

Spend thousands on SC and TT and see the value go down by 50% or more

Spend a few dollars on tastefull cosmetics and get more than stock. If your watching the trend right now in the market, custom "tasteful" cars are gettting more than their stock counterparts

I got offered more money for my custom 96 GTS with the Autoform Lemans Package with more Miles on it then my stock 96 GTS with less miles on it. It all depends on who is asking. If its an 19-30 year old. Majority want the custom. If their over 45, probably the stock car. I know I get double the compliments with teis package and double the attention over stock. Thats a fact. One reason the ACR gets more attention the the Coupe version.

Love the car slitherv10 You just made me feel better by putting me in the 19 to 30 year old bracket :D ........Im in my 50s AND LOVE THE RACE LOOK :D

I bought my car because it had a Wing, side splitters race harnesses etc.

I have the GT 2 Tea tray (wing) on my car :D I like it ......BUT if I were to start from scratch, the Autoform Le mans wing would be my first choice :1up:

Just look at Mopar Boys Avatar of his Yellow Bumble bee, that wing looks Awesome. But don't tell him I said so :D

Your math is way off. SC kits lowering value 50%? LOL
And you can't judge by compliments, I'm sorry, you can't. We have a VA local with huge orange flames up front of a yellow gen 2 and he gets compliments all the time even though his car looks like a bag of ass.

Fixed it for you ;) The colors were getting along so well too.. It must have been the ACR brotherhood temporally overriding the rivalry, thus explaining your helpfulness in my thread.

When it looks like a bag of ass it is a bag of ass. As It says in my quote....I have been offered more money for my Custom Car, then my stock version. Fact not fiction, or compliments.

As far as SC and TT car values....you need to look at the market...ebay, autotrader...etc....if you notice....you have SC cars with 100,000 dollars into them selling for 60,000 and you have cars with over 200000 into them like the hennesey 1000 Venom cars getting under 100000 for them now. So I did do my math and research.

Here is a few links to cars for sale with SC and TT that are getting less than stock cars after they spent over thousands on top of the cars price.

Heres one..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1995...8065378?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item43aef475e2

here is another one that is selling with no reserve and invested over 65000.....you think he is going to get 65000 + teh price of what a stock 99 goes for...I dont think so...he is going to get half of that if hes lucky

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NO-R...4783731?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item2a1c619573

There were 2 others in there a few weeks back with TT asking 99,000 one 99 GTS underground racing and another 06 owned by a texas sporst player that spent over 230,000 on the car and was asking 99,000 for it.

I would LOL too much as the cars are worth what people are willing to pay for them. Usualy more than 50% of what the build cost.

Hey, you can't use the 95' in the first link as an example, it has a WING, therefore proving his point! :)
I think what he's trying to say is that performance mods generally don't devalue a car like cosmetic mods do in most cases. He not saying you get back what you put in, you never do. But a supercharger usually makes the car fetch more than a stock one. But generally, adding custom interiors (like the carbon fiber interior pieces and terrible leather-wrap mess in the second link), add-on stripes, custom paint jobs, and yes, wings, will usually devalue the car in most cases. Especially because it requires drilling and taste is subjective.

It is known you do not get your money back for mods in the long run. They do not reduce the value of your car 50% as you stated. To say throwing a wing and aero on your car increases value is not realistic. Just because one person offered more etc doesn't mean oh wait, everyone will pay more for a wing and aero. False statement. It has to be the right buyer. Generally adding a wing or any customs will reduce value of the car. If you go by total invested in the car no one gets all their money back.

And holy cow on the moparboy photo!

Yes. That is true. We were getting along well.

@Leslie

Haha

@Kng

What photo is that? If you are thinking the one with the Hawaiian shirt posted above, that's NOT me or my car! :rolaugh: Believe it or not it is an identical car with very similar mods!:omg:

Anyhoo, back to the OP, if you need any more pics lmk. As you can see there are a few here and in the link that have the Autoform wing.

Not sure if I was understood as well as I was putting it forth. Saying as you did that A supercharger "usualy" gets more money than a stock one. I agree to the most part. Taking an exapmle of a 2001 GTS stock with low miles is worth say 45,000 and the same car with a Supercharger setup fetches say 59000,yes,your fetching more money but, you spent over 15,000 doing so. So in the end your right back to where you were at the stock selling price. That is if your luck to have spent only 14000 to upgrade to a SC. I would put my neck on the line if 14000 is the amount it takes to install and tune a proper SC set up. Along with all the extra bells and whistles that are usual changed as well during a set up like that. As well as what you said" Drilling and taste is subjective". I agree which holds truth to SC and TT set ups as you are modifing many parts on a stock car to get your Proper set up for the SC. Which in turn also devalues the car as do teh carbon fibre pieces etc. But that is as you say subjective. Many people I know would never buy a SC car as they are usual problem linked and unreliable. Costly to repair and need to be tuned. On the other hand. Putting carbon fibre pieces or "wings" which cost much less than the SC set up, can be removed and or replaced with no harm as it is cosmetic. Removing a SC set up from a car and trying to put it back to stock requires alot more than just unhooking the SC. All the parts that you added and all the wear and tear it causes to the rest of the car ie, tranny,differ,internal motor,etc cannot be replaced or simply removed. Thats a much beigger cost added to the loss of the value.

Anyway, what I am trying to say in a nutshell is if you look at the whole picture, teh cosmetics run you alot less to install and remove or replace. No headaches and wont leave you on the side of the road. The SC set ups I know with many have. Thus SC and TT cars are alot more subjective than are custom cosmetic counterparts. That is reality as it is out there. Proof is usualy in the pudding. I do notice comsmetic cars devalued when selling as well but no where near what they spent to install them as do the SC cars.

The whole idea of Dodge/Chrysler is to make a car that is NA unlike other companies that use SC and TT to make them run. That is the beauty of what a Viper hold true to the others. When you add SC and TT your just proving a point to the others that yes we want to be like you ( supercharged/TT set up) On the other hand, Dodge/Chrysler made the GTS-R competition coupe and ACR with wings and cosmetics as you call them, to enhance what is already a beautiful car and make it moer functional. If they felt SC and TT were they would have installed them years ago. I would say you would rather have one of those 2 cars than a coupe or RT10 version. Why? because they are cosmeticaly appealing and more functional then thier counterparts.

Explaining Viper things to you
Greatest Gen 2 add-on know to man is the cupholder. Worth 100% of purchase price at resale.

Summary: cupholder > blower if you park your portfolio in the garage.

Summary 2: blower > wing if you don't wear a skirt.
