"We have not heard of anything like the issue you described with your car, there is nothing in our warranty system that popped up."
(SRT engineers)

That's because the warrantee folks denied my claim. Is there someone I can talk to about this?

Thanks!

PBR
yes, call the call center (800 # in your owners manual) and state specifically that you have an SRT. We have a very capable specialist there who will look into your situation.

Assume that the 2003 through 2006 Viper has Eibachs, Motons and is corner balanced. Any problem using the new tires?

Compared to the PS1 runflats, you are going to need more negative camber with the PS2s due to the decrease in sidewall stiffness. You are going to need to tweak the handling balance and and your shock settings for limit handling. The non runflats ride smoother and are better on rutted roads, but the loss of sidewall stiffness does not help at the track without redoing your setup.

Let's start by saying that you should go back and do your homework. Remember, from our earliest publications, "every Viper is a track car". That said, we often decide to offer special cars through time but as you know can't talk about that now. Now let me ask you, what would you consider necessary to make a "track car".

Dry sump, lighter weight, 6 point harness, roll bar, lighter wheels, fully adjustable shocks, quick change camber adjust (sport shims) both front and rear, floating rotors, race seats, oh and did I say lighter weight.

Now I'll go back and read the rest of the comments.

notice I did not say add more power!

The run flats tend to lose about 4 to 5 pounds over a relatively short amount of mileage. They stabalize at about 24 pounds. Many do not check their tire pressure. Since I do, I have noticed this issue. My theory is that on cornering and over rougher roads, the stiff side walls do not totally adhere to the rims and there are micro leaks under certain conditions. Comment?

We don't announce final numbers till the year is over (eventually)

Or even after the production has stopped. When we met with the SRT guys in Detroit on our way to Stuttgart last December we asked for the '04-'06 production numbers and were told that they would be forthcoming:dunno:

On another note. What is the limiting factor to get one of the SRT8 cars/jeeps to tow 5500#. I would llike to tow my Viper on an open trailer. Is it tires or chassis?

The lack of side sill insulation, that is the availability of it should be addressed. The factory insulation was burned out by 12,000 miles. The dealer would not cover it under my extended Max Care warranty which has now recently expired. The real issue is the fact that I can't buy the insulation from the dealer. You must replace the entire side sill for $5,000. This is a real problem that should be addressed. If nothing else it should be available by itself at a REASONABLE cost. Guys this needs to be available, it is simply a safety issue.

From what I've heard the 2008 car seems to be amazing. You've addressed just about every major shortcoming on the Viper.

To me it looks almost perfect (add roll protection and it is perfect.)

I'm sure, however, that there were some things on your engineering "wish list" that didn't make it into the 2008.

What would you have done (or might do) if you'd had more time and development dollars?

Do we know a total production count for the 2008's
Nice try but your caught!!! As stated previously, SRT will post all production numbers by color after the MY closes. I can't honestly predict how many we will build because we will obviously try and build enough to satisfy all the orders we get from the Viper faithful (and quite frankly, so far those orders are pouring in - must be something about 600 hp). All the numbers for the MY's that have closed were posted just recently in Viper Magazine. We will give the VCA the 08 MY numbers when its over.
Sorry, I stand corrected. We only published the 06 MY numbers last month. If its not too late we will put the 2002 - 2005 numbers in the next edition of the magazine, if not, the issue after that.

Sorry.....But its sounds like you have a slow leak that seals when warm

With respect, I think 2003-2005 are still MIA by color. 2006 was posted in great detail, best ever. THANKS
