The only people questioning if it works or not either;

a)Have not read the posts
or
b)Believe that I have a hidden agenda with the makers and have altered all dyno data to show no gains.

PS. Personaly I am still waiting for all the other people that said they were going to dyno. Even the manufacturers of the product seem to have a hard time finding a local dyno jet. Or at least one that will show positive results that will aid Vipair sales.

PSS. In the mean time I am going to pull my test vipair from wheel chock duties and let a friend borrow it for some 1/4 mile testing this weekend.

That's right Stu, he's only here to help us. He's selling an air deflector to anyone who will buy it, just for the good of the Viper owners all over the world.

Any questions about the performance increases produced by the product are disrespectful.

The sellers of this product made some wild claims, causing questions.

Independent testing was done by a VCA member using a Vipair device provided by the seller.
The results showed no measurable improvement.

These tests measured intake air temp and pressure. The sellers didn't like the results and attacked the tester's credibility while providing no data of their own.

The sellers continue to stand by claims of cooler intake air and pressurized intake air.
These claims have no test data to back them up.

If you made this product and people questioned its value wouldn't you do some testing?
Wouldn't you have done the testing before you sold the product.

Making fun of Joe because he is on these folk's case is ok, Joe can take it.
The thing is, this is something that started over the silly hype that was used to sell this thing at the beginning.
The claims made seemed to be designed to fool gullible people into buying something that might not be what they said it was.

It only cost $100 so what the heck, who cares if it works. Buy one if you want. Get one of those electric superchargers too.
And one of those magnets that goes over your fuel line.

As P.T. Barnum said.........

You gotta love a 34 page thread about a 2% mod.

I believe this thread stretched so long because both sides are right.

Ram air is real, BUT it's tiny.

Vipair routes the air correctly, BUT doesn't seal the system.

Look at WCKDVPR's 130 MPH numbers; a 0.3 psi gain versus 14.7 psi base atmospheric (.3/14.7 = 2%). That's similar to a change in elevation of 1,000 ft. That's similar to what you get from filters and tubes.

Can a dyno accurately measure that?

P.S. Sorry to break the news Joe, but Smokey Yunnick did the flywheel blower thing ages ago. However, it must be some consolation to know you are as clever as he was.

Re: VIPAIR™ Dyno Results on 99 RT 16 RWHP!!

Yes, I got the idea from an article that Smokey wrote in Circle Track magazine about twelve years ago.

I didn't say it was "my" idea, or did I?
Anyway, the idea is to actually do it. I believe it will work, perhaps mostly at higher rpm, but it will be free horsepower if someone does it.

And my beef with the Vipair guys isn't about the piddling little gain that the thing might give a real race car.

My problem was with their hype, "feels more like 50hp", in trying to sell this thing to guys driving their Vipers on the street.

And also with the guys who claimed they could feel the Vipair boost.

In case you haven't noticed, I'm a nasty old guy who doesn't believe in anything. Earth round? No, I don't think so.
That being said and agreed to, I'm still right about Vipair.

I wasn't going to get involved with this again, see what you have done.
