I am sad.
Dont be. M1 and Wix XP filters are perfectly acceptable
in a pinch. Was the OEM a 05037836AB or 05037836AC
model? Ive been trying to contact Wix but they have not
replied - seems like the new AC version is a significant
downgrade over the AA and AB parts.

Whats interesting is that the Hemi SRT crowd as moved
away from OEM into the Viper Filters which is why there
has been a sudden heavy run on them. I think Wix is
trying to pull a fast one and lower the quality of the AB to
Hemi standards with the AC.

I am a devout fan of Viper Filters so this new AC replacement
has my pumpkin frosted over...

fyi Rock Auto has Mopar filters listed as back in
stock now, so I guess they got back to producing
them

Gotta back Steve on this one - since the SRT8
crowd has jumped on the Viper Filter bandwagon
there has been ALOT of counterfeits circulating on
the mass-retail sites. Wix did just make a run on
the real filters about a month ago - several of my
sources have gotten shipments in recently, but i
would stick with the Viper Vendors on these right
now. A few extra bucks is worth the hassle.

As near as I can tell, there have been many changes in the ownership of oil filter manufacturers...with some "trickle down" effects at the end product level that are less than desirable in my opinion.

just because they are Viper Vendors does not really
meaning anything.
It absolutely does. Guys like Tator, JonB, Sawyer,
Savakinas, and Havik will all... at the VERY least
will physically look at the filters before they ship
them out. There is a good chance that the retailers
will have them shipped directly to you through
a network of people they dont even talk to.

Now if the manufacturer (Wix) is making cheap
filters there is nothing that can be done, but
avoiding the counterfeits starts with avoiding the
marketplaces that dont care if they exist or not...

No they won't - they'll just stick them in their inventory like every other vendor.

Case in point - I bought a new radiator from a very well known Viper vendor. As a point of practice I always rinse out radiators. This ****** started puking out chunks of metal when I ran him under the faucet. Not little curly q's or dots/specs, but fricken solid pieces of metal (which oddly enough were all triangle shaped so I can't figure out *** they could be).

Anyways, point being, if the magic Viper vendors don't take 2 minutes to rinse out radiators they stock to make sure they're good to go for customers, because I imagine the majority of people just slap the parts on and don't ensure full cleaning, they arn't going to open up piles of boxes of oil filters to inspect.
