Welcome to the 97 Blue/White Club, excellent choice. What Vin? I am 613 of 97. Enjoy, take it easy on the go pedal until you have some seat time!!

Paint bulge on 96 gts rocker panel

Ditto Avi. I paid 3 hundy Cdn funds for a repaint. If your going to drive the car they take a beating the sills. If you Kumho tires you have to hit them every few year anyways. Garage queen different story, not sure if I would want to repaint them on a minor blemish if your looking for long...

Which Viper would you get if you had it to do over?

I love my Blue/White GTS and plan on keeping it forever unless I happen to marry a supermodel that says it has to go, even then I'd just hide it somewhere. Other than that, my fav color is 02 Graphite, classy, classy without the boy-racer look of my GTS.

how often do you wash your cars?

I put miles on my GTS, has 30K on it now and I wash the car every time I drive it. Complete end to end with a vac, rims cleaned, tires dressed and leather conditioner. Thought this foolishness would subside after 4 years but no such luck. I just do not sleep well when it's in the garage not...

    '97 GTS Questions??

Re: \'97 GTS Questions?? 421 bone stock here before mods. early gen II respond to exhaust mods nicely, the 97 has slightly more polished rims and a running change in early 97 to one piece forged rims, not cast. small trim updates, one piece rubbers along door glass, etc. big difference is...

Who has the most miles driven in one 24 hour period?

Not in the Viper but did a rocking Windsor, Ontario to the Fl border (free Orange Juice stop) in 12 hours 12 minutes to the minute from the time we were released into the US from customs. I worked it out at the time to a near 100mph average in a Jeep Grand Cherokee. The thing was to the tin...

What kind of gears do you guys have or reccomend?

I like Sun's advice above. The car is an exercise in futility laying it down as is with 3.07s. Adding gear just amplifies the problem. I stand by my case of racing my buddy with the exact same car as mine that dyno'd within a few horse of each other. He put in a new rear end and went back to...

    Cream-puff cam vs stock GEN2

98 should dyno the best numbers ever in theory. First year of the SS tubular headers (albeit crinkle cut like french fries for fittment clearances), yet still has the lumpy cam. I put the shorties on my 97 and pulled 434, happy with that.

    Viper vs. Vette (cornering)

ouch, anyone see the 12.9 1/4 time on that Viper link at the top. Yikes......... I have to discount most of that jibber jabber listed when a Gen I goes those times. They are off by a true second 1/4 mile, man. I think that is the slowest times I have ever seen published for a GenII car. If a...

HELP HELP......crank pulley BOLT is NOT coming lose?? how to get it off

is the crank turning when attempting to loosen the bolt, or stationary? if it's flinching I think I had someone stand on the binders in the cockpit full tilt in gear and that locked it solid to get a good crack at it.

    coolant LEAKING from TIMING COVER....ANYONE??

Blew that one right off my car on the first tank of gas when I bought mine, ouch. Ended up taking my time and did it myself in the garage, talk about getting to know the car. Not that big of deal, yank that hood off pronto!

    2000 Vipers are no creampuffs

what's up with the three year old pull up? everyone knows that 96-98 Vipers are the best, move along now! biased, you bet.

    Muffler delete question

huge improvement in sound tone, a touch louder like Chucko says, but overall much better. I do not find the drone at all in my GTS. I picked up 15 horse with rear delete and Roe 3 inch Ovals. Sounds more like a sports car should, should have came factory without the thing IMO.

Any tips on changing fuel filter?

it's pain in the asp, drink heavily before hand. access is limited to say the least, working with fragile plastic clips is just icing on the cake. go slow and curse often.

Hey George I do not see the chrome cap on your site. Is it identical to the sneaky pete ones minus the graphic?

Hey Don, where in Ontario are ya? I hit 1-2 at 6000 and then back off to 5500-5700 from there on in seems to work for me.

The Final Day -- Woodward Dream Cruise - Pics

Hey Bruce, Nice to meet you and thanks for the show around on Friday night. I did end up back during the day on Saturday to catch some of the action without the Viper and then on to MIS for the Nascar race, a 10 year old tradition of beer drinking and BBQing hillbilly style, haha. I lingered...

Cool Vid, where is the Viper?

May be a repost, nice 8 minute vid of four laps of high end cars going head to head. Lambo Gallardo, Lambo Merc., 911 Turbo, Modena, NSX-R I think and an M3. Notice how hard the tach climbs in the Merc with the in car footage. I'd say the NSX driver skill had something to do with the results he...

    Side Sill heat shield insulation

I had my cats ceramic coated inside and out, actually the entire run from headers to the rear muffler and that helps quite a bit. However I still had to run OEM insulation in the sill after a few months without it the heat soak on shutoff after a hard run yellowed up the sills pretty good...

Where do you go to change your oil?

I like letting her drain overnight and sleep well knowing as much as possible is leaving the motor. Of course, a 99.9% drain in 5 minutes is close too, gotta be a Viper thing.

who here rents vipers in vegas

I'll vouch for Ivory's writeup. The places on the strip are beat cars. I flew down and took a GTS out for the day before I bought mine as was almost turned off the car to the point of not buying one. That was from exotic car rentals. The air did not work, steering was baffed, brakes were toast...

OK, don't kill me but my daughter wants to see a picture of a Pink Viper

Re: OK, don\'t kill me but my daughter wants to see a picture of a Pink Viper Don't start the gear debate Avi as it's a losing battle. I've raced the same GTS in my GTS that had a gear and then went back to OEM and there is next to no difference in acceleration. We've raced dozens of times...

    Viper maint costs

Your in like flint Brian if you can turn a wrench. Exhaust mods are easy, I did mine from end to end no problems. Take your time and it goes smooth. Brake pads are easy as well, and any fluid flush is relatively easy. Usually getting the car safely in the air and level takes longer than any...

Need advice on long term storage.

Good advice by all. After some research I dropped the moth ball routine and went with Bounce dryer sheets for the interior of the car, even tossed some in the exhaust tips. Smells alot better come spring. Still mothballed the exterior under the car. Stay safe over there.
